While I was reading “My Freshman Year” the author made a lot of points that I found quite interesting and many of these points I have experienced firsthand because one of my best friends just so happens to be a CA here at Bloomsburg. In the passage the author told us that less than 10 percent of residents at AnyU are associated with a fraternity or a sorority which is very surprising because it seems here at Bloomsburg sororities and fraternities have a much bigger role in student’s life at college. Another thing that I found interesting about this passage was when the author started talking about diversity at AnyU and how they didn’t have much of it. Then I compared AnyU to Bloomsburg and I realized that here at Bloomsburg you see people from different ethnic backgrounds all associating with each other in friend groups and in classes so I found that kind of surprising when I read that.

After reading the first part of “A mind at Work” I realized that I could not really relate to the waitress in this text but one thing this passage made me realize is that being a waitress is not as easy as it seems. One thing that stood out to me was when the author said waitresses had to think on their feet because they have to deal with so many orders and they don’t really ever get them mixed up. The way that I made a connection to this was with my homework because if I don’t write something down the moment it is presented to me I most likely will forget to do it. From what the author has told us it seems like being a waitress is very stressful and it actually takes some sort of skill. After all of this I have come to the conclusion that I would not be a very good waiter.
